April School Board meeting MaryJo supplied informaiton on how many ITS needed to have enough to cover all campuses. 17 was the number, but any amount was going to improve.

We have lots of people hooking up computers wrong; some physical damage need to be noted; are you getting a green light? when you boot up, there are a series of lights that may indicate problems; beeps and beep series - those beeps 3, 2 will also indicate what is wrong with the system; A diagnostic test that will help you before you reimage - FUNCTION and power on, it will run a diagnostics - on the desktop F12; You can run the tests and it may show you that the hard drive is bad, so it does not help to reimage it;
If it passes the test, then it is a software issue and needs to be reimaged.
Battery issues; You can check health by hitting F12; Once there select Bios Setup; Settings, General Battery Information will let you know the status of the battery.
Reporting the Work Orders - PLEASE put the netbook/notebook that needs repair in your office. There may be a failure for teachers to report the problem - MOST schools have all computers in working order - but in several schools there is some vandalism; in the middle schools and high schools LCD's are broken - and will not be covered by warranty. Dell does not warranty them; we will run out of money to fix things that break with normal use; but some schools have more damage and vandalism. We need to find out what those campuses are doing to keep things in running condition. Robert has continuous reimaging going on; have helpers checking and fixing them promptly. Being visible on campus, being in and out of classrooms, having great rapport with teachers - helped keep the repairs done in a timely manner. Priority was to have things working - and using the electronic ticket system. Robert also gave credit to the people who worked on the campus with him for keeping equipment in good condition.

.....Google training site and Google updates - Lots of videos and tutorials available; Greg commented that it is getting lots of hits; no feedback so far, but it is apparent that lots are on the site.
If your teachers have a question on how to do something, point them to the site - send them the link to find answers to their questions. It will get them in the habit of going there for information when they need it.
Calendar - previewed the Testing Calendars. Assessment is sharing their calendars. There are some instructions written by Mark Kania - on how to created and embed the calendar; there will a campus calendar, a staff calendar, the one that the campus has created has to have the view changed; everyone has to use the District Generated calendar. You will share that calendar with secretary, principal.
All campuse calendars will have to be embedded (Google) into the campus website.
.....Teacher Guides - we want the teachers to go to the Teacher Guides wiki - where to find the solutions to many of their questions. The Teacher Guide includes all the Superintendent Leadership Retreat links; Lotus Notes will be deleted from it.
.....Compliance training - PD is going to try to have it ready by August 15 - All the powerpoints were turned in by Tech.; but other departments have not turned their presentations in - they are still WAITING to get them posted. An email will be sent out when they are up and running.
- JIT training and collaboration with the coaches - Some ITS going to these trainings along with instructional coaches - we would like for people to sign up in both the elementary and secondary. Deadline for signing up ASAP - and if it is on a Saturday, you will be paid. To sign up, go to Drive and put in Collaboration and the signup sheet will come up. (thanks, Angie)
- BYO (Robin and Shannon) Policy is posted un AUP - but it is called Guidelines - Devices - smartphones, ipod touch, ereaders (nooks, Kindles, Fire), Tablets, Laptops, Any wireless device, Discussion Point - Nintendo DS.
What to prepare for - teacher management issue - have some extras available to have netbooks handy for those who do not have a device - offer one for them to use and word it "gently". Wireless is limited to 256 devices - 512 for high school; encourage kids not to share their device. They log in with their own login - and acceptable use is still in place. Teachers will be in control of the management of the devices. Students may NOT have the wireless guest password. They have to use their own. The impression given by Dr. Chavez that we will see how many logins will still be needed. ARUBA bumping number of access points. Jan said they are looking to see how much it will cost for additional wireless for high schools first, then middle school. The handbook has a form in the handbook just for BYO - to participate or not. Overall, administrators are positive for it. Since students can't get to Facebook or You Tube. The campus and teacher will still have control of when and where to use the BYO devices. It has to be tied to instruction.

"The school district will educate all students about appropriate online behavior, including interacting with other individuals on social networking websites and in chat rooms and cyberbullying awareness and response."

Question about transfers - and how to add to campus will be answered on Wednesday. We will be getting new usernames in place - Jennifer and Chris will be here on Wednesday. GooglePlus - If you are putting solutions for ITS problems, keep in mind we have to use collaborative tools. GooglePlus is not available in our School Domain. Try to make sure that everyone "can play together in the sandbox" and not leave anyone out. Everyone that was here last year is IN the ITS group.
If you have created a specialist group in your email, just delete that old group so we can uses the one managed at the Domain Level.
